My research: The overarching goal of my research is to understand how bacteria shape the adaptive potential of their ecosystem. 

What do you typically eat for breakfast? nothing. I just drink water in the morning.

What is your favorite type of cuisine to cook? growing up in Hawaiʻi, I love cooking across the local cultures (Hawaiian, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese, Korean)

What is your favorite snack or candy? french fries (from W&M burger)

What is your favorite spice? paʻakai (Hawaiian salt gathered from the ocean)

What is one food you absolutely dislike? mac & cheese out of the box
